I first trained as a psychosynthesis counsellor, and subsequently a psychotherapist, working in private practice in London and Bath.
As part of the continuing professional development that all psychotherapists are required to do, I explored various alternative and complementary approaches, one of which was Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). ISTDP transformed my ideas on how to deliver a successful therapeutic experience and as a result I am now undertaking Core Training run by Lisa Bendzsa in conjunction with Jon Frederickson, author of Co-Creating Change and Co-Creating Safety amongst other key texts.
The course has confirmed for me the possibilities of how working in a more focussed and dynamic way with my clients could be more successful for them in the long term, as well as cost effective. I am committed to the continual reflection on, and improvement of, my clinical work, by reviewing video, having regular supervision with a senior therapists and participating in further training.
